I was 80 lbs overweight and inactive. I walked into my dentist's office for a routine visit and they would not see me because my blood pressure was off the charts. I knew I needed to make a lifestyle change.
The next morning I literally cleared my desk and took out an empty notebook. I made a list of everything I needed to change, and the goals that I wanted to achieve. Then I wrote a to-do list just for that day. I was truly starting over. It began with a healthy breakfast, drinking lots of water, and a 45-minute walk around the neighborhood.
As I started making progress, I decided that I would sign-up for a short, local triathlon, something I had never done before. And, by the time that event came, I had already made the decision to "go all in" and sign-up for a half Ironman Triathlon.

In addition to losing all the weight I had also become an endurance athlete in less than two years. And, the biggest lesson I learned was that it was all due to my mindset. I had a goal, and the motivation, and nothing was going to stop me.
